Fil-Irish thriller 'Nocebo' is coming to PH theaters in January
If you're wondering what movie to watch in theaters to kick off the new year, then you may want to keep an eye out for Nocebo, a Filipino-Irish psychological thriller film that stars Cebuana actress Chai Fonacier, best known for her role in Patay na si Hesus.
TBA Studios, the production company that premiered the award-winning Triangle of Sadness in the country, has acquired the Philippine theatrical distribution rights to Nocebo and is set to release it on Jan. 18.
The film takes viewers into the shoes of Christine, a fashion designer whose life is plagued by a mysterious illness that baffles medical experts and frustrates her husband, Felix.
However, a beacon of light appears in the form of Diana, a Filipino nanny who uses her knowledge of traditional folk healing to reveal a horrifying truth.
Aside from Fonacier, Nocebo stars the talents of Eva Green (known for Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children) and Mark Strong (who starred in Shazam!) and is directed by Irish filmmaker Lorcan Finnegan.
The film was previously shown in several film festivals but only for a limited run, including the Sitges Film Festival, Cork International Film Festival, Singapore International Film Festival, and QCinema International Film Festival.
