Lalisa’s first times: BLACKPINK’s Lisa opens up about meeting her bandmates, visiting South Korea
BLACKPINK’s Lisa reminisced about her first times such as meeting her bandmates, coming to South Korea, and her first performance on stage—in three languages.
In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Lisa revealed that Jennie was the first BLACKPINK member she met. “Oh, (I met them at) different times. I met Jennie first, then Jisoo, and Rosie,” she said.
“I remember Jennie, she was the only one who said ‘Hi’ to me in English because the people around me can’t talk in English. So, we were super close,” Lisa added.
Lisa revealed that Jisoo was wearing a red hoodie when they met for the first time, adding that she “wore that to practice every day.” Meanwhile, Rosé had a guitar during their first encounter.
“I was like, ‘Wow, she’s from Australia and she’s the same age as me,’ which was really cool to have a new friend come in,” she said.
The Thai K-pop star shared that she was 13 years old when she came to South Korea for the first time. At that time, she had “very short hair” and was with her parents.
Lisa also opened up about her first stage performance when she was only five years old. “My first stage was like five at my school. I did a traditional Thai dance, it was fun,” she added.
The BLACKPINK member also revealed that she started preparing for her solo debut in March, when she felt the tracks Money and Lalisa “were mine.”
“At that time, I was like ‘Is this the beginning? Is it my turn? It’s my time to shine?’ It felt unbelievable, but it was so great. I heard Money first and after that, I heard Lalisa. Both songs just felt like they were mine,” she added.
Lisa recently made her solo debut with her first solo EP “Lalisa” where she became the first female soloist with over half a million sales in the first week of its release.
