August was a tough month due to heartbreaking events and terrible news. It’s a good thing that there were a lot of high-quality K-pop tracks to help us get by.

K-pop stans witnessed the much-awaited return of the K-pop girl group Red Velvet and soloist CL after their hiatus. It’s also a month where a lot of explosive tracks about defying society’s standards and self-love were released as well.

If you’ve missed out on the K-pop releases for the month of August, here’s a quick roundup of this month’s best tracks.

Somi (August 2)

Solo artist Somi started off the month with the catchy track Dumb Dumb. Compared to her previous releases, the song fully captures her refreshing vocals and “high-teen” image. The track has also become viral on Tiktok with over 265 million videos using the hashtag “#DumbDumbChallenge.”

ASTRO (August 2)

ASTRO shocked fans after releasing a set of mature teasers, a month before the release of their eighth mini-album Switch On. The album turned out to be a contrast from the sensual photos since it’s a funky and disco-inspired release. Probably one of the boy group’s best albums to date.

Sunmi (August 6)

Solo artist Sunmi channeled her inner Regina George with her third mini-album 1/6. The album is one of the former Wonder Girls’ member’s most experimental releases since its lively retro elements reflected her personal hardships.

Red Velvet (August 16)

This month has been an emotional one for Red Velvet’s fans since they celebrated their seventh debut anniversary and released their first mini-album as a group since December 2019. Queendom didn’t disappoint, which is expected from the girl group. The vibrant title track of the same name is the perfect way to brighten up your spirits, especially with current events.

Tomorrow X Together (August 17)

Who needs to fit in with the status quo when Tomorrow X Together (TXT) empowered their fans to defy social norms with their first repackaged album. The Chaos Chapter: FIGHT OR ESCAPE is a powerful album that showed off the boy group’s vocal, songwriting skills, and passion to inspire their fans to be the best version of themselves.

Stray Kids (August 23)

Stray Kids has always been known for their thunderous and explosive music, and their second album NO EASY is no different. The album is filled with energetic tracks that are perfect to keep your spirits awake on a lazy day.

Kwon Eunbi (August 24)

Soloist Kwon Eunbi is the first IZ*ONE member to embark on her musical journey after the group’s disbandment in April. Her first solo album DOOR is a dazzling way to introduce Eunbi as a solo artist. The no-skip album is filled with tracks that show off her ability to command the stage as a performer and individual.

CL (August 24)

2NE1 and 2nd Generation K-pop fans were overjoyed when CL announced that she’ll be releasing new music. And her new song didn’t disappoint. Spicy is sexy, badass, and powerful—which describes the soloist perfectly.
