Better Call Saul's Bob Odenkirk in stable condition after ‘heart-related’ incident
Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk is in stable condition after suffering a "heart-related" incident while filming on the set of the Breaking Bad prequel series.
“We can confirm Bob is in stable condition after experiencing a heart-related incident,” Odenkirk's representatives said in a statement. “He and his family would like to express gratitude for the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, as well as his cast, crew and producers who have stayed by his side. The Odenkirks would also like to thank everyone for the outpouring of well wishes and ask for their privacy at this time as Bob works on his recovery.”
Odenkirk's son, Nate, later tweeted that his father is "going to be OK."
Following news of Odenkirk's collapse, several of his colleagues such as Breaking Bad stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul took to social media to offer their support to the veteran actor.
"Today I woke up to news that has made me anxious all morning," Cranston wrote on Instagram. "My friend, Bob Odenkirk collapsed last night on the set of Better Call Saul. He is in the hospital in Albuquerque and receiving the medical attention he needs but his condition is not known to the public as yet. Please take a moment in your day today to think about him and send positive thoughts and prayers his way, thank you."
Paul, meanwhile, said: "I love you my friend."
The 58-year-old Nobody actor collapsed on Tuesday (Wednesday, Manila time) while shooting the sixth and final season of AMC's Better Call Saul in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was immediately rushed to a hospital following the incident.
Odenkirk first portrayed the role of criminal defense lawyer Saul Goodman in AMC's award-winning 2008 drama Breaking Bad, which starred Cranston and Paul. He later reprised his role in the spin-off series in 2015.
His performance in Better Call Saul earned him four Emmy nominations for outstanding lead actor in a drama series as well as four Golden Globe nominations for best actor in a television series drama.
