All 4 members of The Beatles are getting biopics told from their point of view
John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr are each going to be featured in films about their lives.
Director Sam Mendes will make four biopics on The Beatles, with the films told from each member's point of view. According to Variety, the separate films will span the band's history leading to their breakup in 1970.
McCartney, Starr, and the families of the late Lennon and Harrison have given their blessing to make the films on their life stories and music. This is the first time the Beatles gave their full support to a scripted film.
"I'm honored to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies," Mendes said in a statement. The Academy Award-winnning director has worked on the films American Beauty, Skyfall, and 1917.
The four films are set for a 2027 release but other details have yet to be revealed. Sony Pictures Entertainment, however, promises that it will be "innovative and groundbreaking" as all four movies will be premiered in the same year.
The Beatles, or the "Fab Four," is one of the biggest bands in history, growing in popularity in the 60s. Throughout their career, they launched 12 studio albums, 5 live albums, 51 compilation albums, 36 EPs, and more, which include tracks like Here Comes The Sun, Let It Be, Hey Jude, Help!, Come Together, and Blackbird.
In 1970, the band split with members pursuing their own solo careers. Lennon was shot dead in New York in 1980 while Harrison died of lung cancer in 2001.
