The official eight entries to the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2022 are now complete, with films starring Nadine Lustre, Edu Manzano, Agot Isidro, and Jake Cuenca capping off the lineup.

MMFF's selection committee announced the four films that will be screened during the festival, which were chosen from a record high of 22 submissions. In July, the four first official entries were revealed.

The four films announced on Oct. 20 include the techno-horror Deleter starring Nadine Lustre and directed by Mikhail Red; drama Family Matters starring Noel Trinidad, Liza Lorena, and Agot Isidro and directed by Nuel Naval; action-drama Mamasapano: Now It Can Be Told starring Edu Manzano, Aljur Abrenica, Paolo Gumabao, Alan Paule, and Claudine Barretto and directed by Lester Dimaranan; and drama My Father, Myself starring Jake Cuenca, Dimples Romana, and Sean de Guzman and directed by Joel Lamangan.

Previously announced entries include Labyu With an Accent starring Coco Martin and Jodi Sta. Maria; Partners In Crime starring Vice Ganda and Ivana Alawi; The Teacher starring Joey de Leon and Toni Gonzaga; and Nanahimik Ang Gabi starring Ian Veneracion, Heaven Peralejo, and Mon Confiado.

According to selection committee head Boots Anson-Rodrigo, the films were chosen based on artistic excellence, commercial appeal, Filipino cultural values, and global appeal.

The 48th MMFF follows the theme "Balik Saya," as it's the second year the festival would return to theaters since it was closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Let us watch the MMFF in theaters once more. We are happy with the list of entries, which has a wide mix of genres. We are excited and looking forward to MMFF 2022 becoming a success," Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and MMFF Concurrent Acting Chairman Engr. Carlo Dimayuga said.

The 48th MMFF entries will be screening in theaters from Dec. 25, 2022 to Jan. 7, 2023, with its Gabi ng Parangal to be held on Dec. 27.
