LIST: New Prime Video shows and movies to cozy up with this August

Will You Be My Ex (streaming on Aug. 3)

The Filipino movie revolves around Chris (Julia Barretto), a free-spirited and fun-loving woman from a family of artists and theater actors, who crossed paths and falls in love with Joey (Diego Loyzaga), a quiet, formal young man from a well-respected family. They'd have a falling out and go their own ways until they meet again a few years later.

The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart (streaming on Aug. 4)

The Australian miniseries, based on the novel of the same name by Holly Ringland, focuses on Alice Hart, who loses her parents in a mysterious fire when she was nine. She lives with her grandmother at the Thornfield flower farm, where she learns that there are secrets within secrets about her and her family’s past. As Alice grows, her complicated past builds to an emotional climax in which she finds herself fighting for her life against a man she loves.

The Killing Vote Season 1 (streaming on Aug. 10)

Based on the popular South Korean webtoon of the same name, the series explores the meaning of justice and features a nationwide death penalty vote against vicious criminals. The story highlights a mysterious figure who carries out the death penalty according to the results of the vote, and the police who are pursuing them.

Red, White & Royal Blue (streaming on Aug. 11)

The American romantic comedy, based on the novel of the same name by Casey McQuinston, revolves around Alex Claremont-Diaz (Taylor Zakhar Perez), the son of the first woman President of the United States (Uma Thurman), and Britain’s Prince Henry (Nicholas Galitzine). Alex and Prince Henry have a lot in common: stunning good looks, undeniable charisma, international popularity—and a total disdain for each other. Their long-standing feud hasn’t really been an issue, until a disastrous altercation at a royal event becomes tabloid fodder, driving a potential wedge in American-British relations.

Shelter Season 1 (streaming on Aug. 18)

The American thriller series, based on the books of Harlan Colben, follows Mickey Bolitar, who starts a new life in Kasselton in New Jersey following the sudden death of his father. Mickey quickly finds himself tangled in the mysterious disappearance of a new student at his school, Ashley Kent, which leads to uncovering unimaginable secrets within their quiet suburban community spanning decades—and perhaps even his own complex family history.

Comedy Island: Philippines (streaming on Aug. 31)

The local version of the series—which follows a hybrid scripted and unscripted format—features showbiz personalities Carlo Aquino, Rufa Mae Quinto, Andrea Brillantes, Jerald Napoles, Cai Cortez, Awra Briguela, Justine Luzares, and Drew Arellano as they stay on the mysterious Tawa-Tawa Island, which resurfaces after 100 years to commence the fictional “Centennial Games.”

They are pitted against each other, and must survive and escape the island by earning votes from the island's citizens through their respective humor off of improvisational scenarios.

The Wheel of Time Season 3 (streaming on Sept. 1)

Based on the best-selling Robert Jordan fantasy series of the same name, farm boy Rand al’Thor (Josha Stradowski), learns he is The Dragon Reborn, a dangerous figure from history destined to save the world or break it. Desperate to protect him from the Dark One, an army of powerful sorceresses must reckon with his burgeoning power and encroaching madness. Though Rand thought he destroyed the Dark One in Season 1, evil is not gone from the world, as Season 2 sees threats old and new.

Shotgun Wedding (streaming on Sept. 1)

The 2022 American romcom movie follows Darcy (Jennifer Lopez) and Tom (Josh Duhamel) as they gather their lovable but very opinionated families for the ultimate destination wedding just as they begin to get cold feet. To make things worse, everyone in the wedding is taken hostage, and "'Til Death Do Us Part" takes on a whole new meaning.
