#FangirlGigs: These K-pop and rock shows are a must-watch before 2022 ends
Concert season is definitely in full swing.
The local concert scene has finally opened its doors to international acts much to the delight of Pinoy fans. We might have gotten used to watching our favorite artists in online shows but nothing compares to the joy of seeing them in the flesh. So, what better way to satisfy our fangirl dreams than to see more of our favorite K-pop and rock acts live?
Here's a helpful fangirl guide to some of the much-awaited shows for the rest of 2022.
Super Junior
TBA
From Super Show 2 to Super Show 9, there’s no stopping Super Junior from bringing good vibes to ELFs. The group has always displayed their raw talent in singing, dancing, performing, and variety, which explains why they’re one of the favorite visitors in the country. The members are composed of Leeteuk, Heechul, Yesung, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Siwon, Donghae, Ryeowook and Kyuhyun. Sungmin is currently on hiatus, as of this writing.
Sadly, Siwon and Eunhyuk will be unable to participate in the latest edition after testing positive for COVID-19 and the passing of his father, respectively. In June 2022, the group announced that Heechul will be sitting out on Super Show 9 due to health concerns.

All Time Low
August 15 - Mall of Asia Arena
Composed of lead vocalist Alex Gaskarth, lead guitarist Jack Barakat, bassist Zack Merrick, and drummer Rian Dawson, All Time Low is a band that is part reckless-part confident. The group is a constant fixture at music festivals and tours making it hard to not be drawn to their music. With music as raw and gut-wrenching, you can’t help but be sucked into their discography.

GOT7's Yugyeom
August 19 - New Frontier Theater
You’ve come so far, Yugyeomie. And Ahgases can’t help but fall deeper in love with you.
Kim Yugyeom debuted as the maknae, main dancer, and sub-vocalist of GOT7 in January 2014, and has since made his mark as a soloist. The charming star is best known for his smooth dance moves, “Big Baby” vibes, composing abilities, and for being a member of K-pop’s 97-line, among others.

The Maine
August 27 - SM North Edsa Skydome
Bringing on the all-out energy and powerful vocals onstage, that’s The Maine for you.
Composed of John O’Callaghan, Kennedy Brock, Jared Monaco, Garrett Nickelsen, Pat Kirch, The Maine is an alternative band known for bringing our inner emo kids to life. The group is also popular for putting a unique indie and do-it-yourself spin on their art which reflects in their discography.

(G)I-DLE
September 11 - New Frontier Theater
The in-your-face lyrics, “Why are you cranky, boy? / What’s all the frown on your face? / Do you want a blonde barbie doll? / It’s not here, I’m not a doll” is more than enough to show what (G)I-DLE is all about.
(G)I-DLE is popular for their assertive image as their songs reflect the persona of a confident woman who’s taking the world by storm. And when you have members like Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi, and Shuhua, it’s easy to see why they’re one of the standouts of K-pop’s 4th Generation. The group is very much involved with their own music with Soyeon, Yuqi, and Minnie producing and writing the majority of their songs. Girl power to the highest degree, don’t you think?

Boys Like Girls
October 12 - SM Hall Seaside Cebu
Remember when we used to blast “I used to be love drunk” during our angsty phase? Well, you can thank Boys Like Girls for that.
Boys Like Girls is probably the quintessential band for every teenager who wants to channel their inner emo. While a majority of their songs have always been raw and hard-hitting to the feels, you can’t deny how much of their music reflects the innermost thoughts of someone who wants to grow up. The group is currently composed of four members, namely, Martin Johnson, Paul DiGiovanni, Gregory James, and John Keefe.

TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT)
October 15-16 - Mall of Asia Arena
From the fairylike boys who captivated fans to the passionate emos out to rip our hearts into shreds, there’s no stopping TOMORROW X TOGETHER in their journey to world domination. One MOA at a time.
Composed of Yeonjun, Soobin, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Huening Kai, TXT has debuted as mythical fairylike creatures who were sucked into the dark side. The group has always been known for consistently delivering bangers that hit all the right spots. While they don’t have fixed positions unlike their peers, it worked wonders for their discography and performances since all members can be main vocalists, main dancers, visuals, and centers.
