Fil-Am singer Olivia Rodrigo's album 'Sour' is out and it's filled with heart and heartbreak
Olivia Rodrigo, tagged as pop's next big thing, has finally dropped her most anticipated debut album Sour. The album, which has 11 songs, will surely leave anyone with no choice but to call the heartbreak hotline.
Rodrigo is an 18-year-old Filipino-American actress and songwriter from California best known for her role as Nini Salazar-Roberts on the hit Disney+ series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.
Her debut single Drivers License, a piano-driven track loaded with teen angst, gained a huge success after its release last January 2021. It hit the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks. This was immediately followed by her songs Deja Vu, which also debuted in the Top 10 and Good 4 U released in April and May respectively of this year. All three songs are part of her album.
Sour is a collection of breakup odes that centers heavily on a story of a romance that failed to thrive. Her fans around the world warmly welcomed the star’s anguished tracks and it seems like everyone expressing their thoughts about the album on social media is on “heart repair mode” right now.
Just a week ago, she performed in the 2021 BRIT Awards where she also met her idol, Taylor Swift. Rodrigo is notably a big Swift fan since she was just a little girl. In one of Rodrigo’s interviews in Capital FM last March, she mentioned how she feels lucky for walking at such a young age into so many doors that Swift has opened.
In addition, some of the album’s tracks were actually rumored to be about Joshua Bassett, her co-star in the High School Musical series, whom she dated for quite some time.
You can now stream Sour on Spotify and Apple Music.
