Lovi Poe lands Hollywood role in ‘The Chelsea Cowboy’ opposite Alex Pettyfer
Lovi Poe has landed a role in the Hollywood biopic The Chelsea Cowboy alongside Alex Pettyfer (I Am Number Four) and Poppy Delevingne (Kingsman: The Golden Circle).
The film chronicles the real-life story of the casanova actor and alleged gangster, John Bindon, and his journey from being discovered in 1967 to his rumored connections with mobster gangs, the Kray Twins and the Richardson Gang.
The film’s synopsis reads: “The Chelsea Cowboy charts the rise and fall of underworld hard-man turned actor Bindon, who despite a successful acting career and passionate romantic liaisons with members of high society, was unable to leave his criminal past behind."
Lovi is set to portray English singer and actress Dana Gillespie, who hires Pettyfer’s Bindon as a security aide and introduces him to the lavish life of Old Hollywood where he met Princess Margaret.
Gillespie is also a star in her own right, as her famous portrayals include 1977’s The People That Time Forgot and 1974's Mahler.
“The team and I are delighted to have Lovi onboard and can’t wait to see her portrayal of Dana Gillespie – a Sixties icon and charismatic singer and actor, whose own life would indeed make an amazing biopic,” The Chelsea Cowboy director Ben Cookson shared with Deadline.
Poe has been in Los Angeles for the past few months. She also shared the Deadline article on social media to break the news.
“Aaaah….can’t wait to start filming The Chelsea Cowboy in October!”
