BTS’ RM says he ‘appreciates’ James Corden’s apology over 76th UNGA jokes

James Corden has apologized to BTS and their legion of fans, or ARMYs, for his past jokes about the group’s appearance at the 76th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

In September, Corden drew flak on social media after he described BTS’ presence at the UNGA as “unusual” and their fans are composed of “15-year-old girls.”

During BTS’ appearance at The Late Late Show with James Corden, leader RM asked how Corden has been doing after he was criticized by their fandom. “You've been in some hot water with ARMYs. Are you alright?”

A flustered Corden took the chance to clarify that his statement wasn’t meant to be in “any way funny to anybody.”

We did two jokes which I didn’t think were in any way funny to anybody, where we said it was unusual you were kicking off a UN summit with a performance, and we said, and this was where I think it was wrong. We said your fans were 15-year-old girls, which is, of course, is not true, because I’m 43 years old and I consider myself as one of the biggest BTS fans on planet Earth… I hope you know this, we absolutely love you and we love the entire ARMY. The prospect of doing anything that may have upset them, I didn't enjoy that feeling,” he added.

RM assured Corden that it’s “alright,” noting that he “appreciates” Corden’s apology and just likes to “clear the air with ARMY.”

ARMYs also took to social media to express their thoughts about Corden’s apology on social media.

Twitter user @pjmvelvets said she admires how RM handled the situation with his “composure.”

Meanwhile, @trilogytae admitted that RM’s response was “sexy.”
