Netflix cancels ‘Bling Empire’ and 'New York' spinoff
Netflix has confirmed to Deadline that it has cancelled Bling Empire, the reality television series that follows a cast of super-rich Asian And Asian Americans based in Los Angeles.
It will also discontinue Bling Empire: New York, the spinoff that features the same concept but is set in the Big Apple.
This means viewers won't get to see a fourth season of the original show or the second season of its spinoff.
"At its heart, Bling is really about the relationships between this larger-than-life group of people—whether it’s Christine and Anna’s feud or the ebb and flow of Kevin and Kane’s friendship," the streaming platform wrote of its canceled program.
Cast members included Anna Shay, Christine Chiu, Guy Tang, Jaime Xie, Kane Lim, Kelly Mi Li, Kevin Kreider, Kim Lee, Leah Qin, and Mimi Morris, among others.
Local star Heart Evangelista also made headlines when she made an appearance on the show as a celebrity guest.
Bling Empire has been promoted as a "real-life Crazy Rich Asians."
For the show's three-season run between Jan. 2021 to Oct. 2022, it tackled themes like Asian representation, unfair beauty standards, fertility, and sobriety, among others.
