Miss International 2024 coronation night set for Nov. 12
Save the date, pageant fans! The 62nd Miss International coronation night is happening on Nov. 12.
Carrying the theme of “Sustainability in Pageantry,” this year's competition features over 70 delegates from across the world showcasing beauty, charisma, and wit in vying for the coveted crown.
The final night of the pageant will be on Nov. 12, 6 p.m. (5 p.m. PH time) at the Tokyo Dome City Hall.
This is in line with the pageant’s post-pandemic advocacy “Beauties for SDGs,” which was launched in 2022.
The delegates will arrive in Japan starting on Oct. 29 and will undergo social, cultural, and educational pre-pageant activities.
According to the pageant body, the beauty queens will be divided into groups and explore the cities of Kaga, Fukushima, Niigata, Atami, and Kamakura.
Some of the major highlights in this competition are the National Costume Show which will be held on Nov. 3, and the preliminary evaluation on Nov. 10 at the Professional University of Beauty & Wellness in Yokohama City.
The coronation night will show candidates in their swimsuits and evening gowns before proceeding to the most-awaited question-and-answer round.
This year’s theme will highlight the need for “national organizations to be self-reliant, independent and confident in its own brand.” This also aims to emphasize the “long-term effects on the mental health of all the participants.”
“Thus, Miss International vows to provide a safe and secure platform where all delegates can enjoy wholesome activities that may enhance their future career prospects without being enslaved by social media,” the organization wrote, promising the “traditional aspects of beauty pageant through a healthy and friendly competition” spreading awareness of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Angelica Lopez, who was crowned in May 2023, will represent the Philippines in the upcoming global competition. Her advocacy is education for underprivileged children.
Meanwhile, PH's Nicole Borromeo finished as the 3rd runner-up at last year's competition.
