‘I was just lost’: Nadine Lustre says 2020 brought fears of becoming a ‘has been’

Nadine Lustre admitted that the possibility of becoming a “has been” crossed her mind this year due to the difficulties brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In an interview posted in Angie Mead King’s YouTube channel, Nadine said she struggled during the lockdown, as it came after months of stress and pressure.

“I had not much work,” the 27-year-old actress said,

“I was thinking to myself na parang, ‘Shit, wala akong work,' so I might, you know, eventually might be a 'has been' or, you know, that kind of thing,” she said.

But Nadine also said the break allowed to think about what she really wants.

“I would have conversations with myself and I would always tell myself to just, you know, ‘Take your time, there’s no rush, you know, the world’s not gonna end tomorrow’,” she said.

It also gave her the time to “look inside,” something she was not able to do in the past five years.

“I was busy and doing a lot of roles and I have people in my ears telling me what I should be, what I should wear. Aside from that, there are people online telling me ‘dapat hindi ganyan, dapat ganito’. You know, putting me in a mold they made for me,” Nadine said.  “It affected me so much that I lost myself. I didn’t know who I was, I didn’t know what I want. Parang I was just lost.”

She also learned not to look for validation from other people and “just do whatever it is that I want to do.”

“If I don’t have projects, then that’s fine, I’ll do something else. It’s not that my life is dependent on that,”  Nadine said.

Nadine was last seen on TV via the ABS-CBN reality show Your Moment, which aired from November 2019 to February 2020.

In January, Nadine’s camp announced that she is leaving Viva Artist Agency (VAA), her talent agency since she started in showbiz over ten years ago.

This month, VAA filed charges against Nadine for allegedly violating their contract.
