Olivia Rodrigo joins Taylor Swift as the only two female artists to claim Spotify’s entire Top 10 US Chart
Taylor Swift may be newbie singer Olivia Rodrigo’s longtime idol, but the 18-year old artist is gradually rising up to Swift’s level—at least in Spotify charts.
With the release of her debut album “SOUR,” Rodrigo took up Spotify's entire US Top 10 charts, a feat that was only previously achieved by Swift’s 2020 surprise album “Folklore.”
Released last week, May 21, “SOUR” follows Rodrigo’s journey after the success of Driver’s License reportedly about her breakup with High School Musical: The Musical co-actor Joshua Bassett.
Rodrigo has been vocal in thanking fans for the success of her album, as she plans to be consistently transparent through her songwriting process.
“I’m so lucky songwriting and music exist. I hope you guys enjoy the 34 minutes and 46 seconds of me spilling my guts out that is called sour,” she shared on Instagram, “thank you for helping me turn all my unhappy feelings into one of the best moments of my life.”
Olivia has also credited Swift numerous times as an inspiration, with the country singer somehow taking on a mentor role and once calling Olivia "baby" on Instagram.
Aside from Spotify, “SOUR's” sixth track good 4 u is also #1 at the Billboard Top 100 Charts and is the most pre-saved album on Apple Music from May 14 to 20.
