Match made in hell: 2020 stans Satan in this new clever ad by Ryan Reynolds and Taylor Swift

Published Dec 03, 2020 7:06 am

No question that 2020 is the year we all would want to forget. It’s an utterly challenging year, to say the least. Most have no love for 2020. Well, except for one—Satan, the king of hell, that is.

In this oddball ad for dating app Match that only a year like 2020 could spin off, Satan (a ripped and towering Hellboy-like persona) and 2020 (a seemingly normal and cheerful woman) hit it off after matching on the dating platform.

The ad was made by Ryan Reynolds and his company Maximum effort and soundtracked by, but of course, Taylor Swift’s Love Story.

The racked up 5 million views in less than 24 hours after Reynolds posted it on his Twitter account.

“A match made in hell is still a @match,” Tweeted Reynolds.

Taylor Swift also retweeted Reynold’s tweet with her blessing.

“Okay so while my new re-records are NOT done, my friend @VancityReynolds asked me if he could use a snippet of one for a LOLsome commercial he wrote so...here’s a sneak peak of Love Story! Working hard to get the music to you soon!!” Swift said in her Tweet.

The 1:27 minute ad shows Satan and 2020 making the most of the pandemic, hitting the gym, dating in an empty field, and even watching a movie with an entire theater all to their selfish selves.
