Michael and Carissa Alvarado, collectively known as Us the Duo, announced that they are now divorced after 12 years of being together.

The folk-pop pair shared an update on their marriage in a lengthy message posted on their joint social media page on Friday, March 29.

"The two of us are no longer married, but we still have so much love for each other, and most importantly, for our daughter Xyla," Michael and Carissa said, accompanying their message with a picture of them walking hand-in-hand with their child at the beach.

"We’ve been living on our own separate journeys for quite some time now and although life looks a little bit different than before, we are both still creating and absolutely love being the best co-parents we can," they continued.

Despite the end of their marriage, they stressed that their five-year-old daughter has also "transitioned wonderfully into this new normal and is still her happy and joyful self."

The duo expressed their gratitude to their fans who continue to support their music and have incorporated their works into their daily lives.

"We know our music means so much to you all, as it does to us. Many of you have walked down the aisle to our music… some of you even have a tattoo of Us The Duo (you’re amazing)!" the pair stated.

"The message, the feelings and the love in our past music will always be our truth for that time in our lives and we hope you’ll continue to cherish the music and your memories attached to it for eternity," they added.

Michael and Carissa shared that they are now co-parenting Xyla and teased that their next album is slated for release this year. Their upcoming project includes never-heard-before singles, remixes of past Us The Duo favorites, medleys, as well as an acoustic Christmas song.

"Thank you for all your support over the past 12 years. We love you all so much," their statement ended.

Michael and Carissa met in 2011 on the set of one of AJ Rafael's music videos and tied the knot a year later. They began their musical career as a duo in 2013 by uploading six-second cover versions of popular songs on their Vine account. They joined Republic Records in March 2014.

The two welcomed Xyla in October 2018 after their America's Got Talent stint.
