Netflix's new title is about religious mom accused of killing own kids she believed were 'zombies'
Looking for a new true crime watch?
Netflix has just released a docuseries dubbed Sins of Our Mother, which revolves around Lori Vallow—a "cult mom" who got accused of murdering her two children Joshua, 7, and Tylee Ryan, 16 with an accomplice, her fifth husband Chad Daybell in September 2019.
When Lori met his partner, her perfect and ideal mama image turned into a horrible one. They used to be followers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints until they started developing unusual religious principles and walked away from it. Not too long after, she informed her best friend Melanie Gibb that they decided to join Preparing a People—a doomsday extremist group—and that they were on an "evangelical mission" as spiritual leaders.
What was that mission? It was to "eradicate the zombies." The couple used the term to describe the "dark spirit" that is left in a mortal's body. Gibb revealed that the husband and wife concluded that when the "real spirit" of a mortal's body goes into what they call a "limbo," the spirit will stay there. It will only be taken out once the body host is killed.
Based on documents obtained by Idaho News, Lori called her two sons "zombies" and since her "purpose" in the world is to get rid of such elements, it's believed to be the reason for the horrible killing. After going missing for months, the kids' dead bodies were found in a rural area of Idaho. Due to the bizarre actions of the couple, they immediately became primary suspects in the murder case. The pair is currently facing murder charges.
Directed by Skye Borgman, Sins of Our Mother is now streaming on Netflix.
