'Queen of Tears' stars share what you should look forward to in the series finale
From being the "couple of the century" to a bitter-sweet relationship, will it be a happy ending for Baek Hyun-woo and Hong Hae-in?
After a month-long emotional rollercoaster, the beloved tVN series Queen of Tears, which earned its highest Saturday ratings yet ahead of its series finale, is finally closing its books, leaving fans a much-needed closure with the rekindled romance of Hyun-woo (Kim Soo-Hyun) and Hae-in (Kim Ji-won).
In a report by Korean entertainment Soompi, Ji-won said that fans should stick to the drama until the very end.
"It's not over until it's over! I hope you'll stick with 'Queen of Tears' until the very end," she said while extending her gratitude to the fans.
"As we spent a long time filming [the drama], I eagerly waited for it while feeling both nervous and excited, and I feel sad at the thought that it's ending already. I really enjoyed watching the drama as one of its viewers, and thank you so much for loving and enjoying our drama."
Meanwhile, Soo-Hyun promised viewers that the finale episode would prove Hyun-woo's love for Hae-in: "Please look forward to seeing how far Hyun Woo will go for Hae In in Episode 16, and please stay with us until the end."
Moreover, Park Sung-hoon, who played the villainous ex-Wall Street analyst and M&A specialist Yoon Eun-sung, said that his character will reach the peak of being the antagonist in the drama.
"Please keep an eye on Eun Sung as he races towards his climax," he said, candidly apologizing to the viewers who got angry with his character.
"I feel like I contributed a lot to making viewers angry throughout the drama [because of my character], so on one hand, I feel apologetic. But a role is merely a role, so I ask on Eun Sung's behalf that you forgive him."
Lee Joo-bin, who played the role of Da Hye, the wife of Soo Chul (Kwak Dong-yeon), said that viewers will understand her character more in the finale episode: "Please stay tuned up until the end to see how Da Hye accepts the wrongs of the past and the accompanying retribution, as well as how she will overcome her situation."
"In the final episode, you can safely look forward to seeing what's become of Soo Chul and his family after going through so many ordeals," Dong-yeon chided.
The finale episode will air on Netflix at 10:20 p.m., which is 10 minutes earlier than usual.
Queen of Tears follows the "miraculous, thrilling, and humorous love story" of a married couple after surviving a crisis. It was written by Park Ji Eun, who helmed hit K-dramas Crash Landing on You, My Love From the Star, and The Producers.
The series became the second highest-rated show in the history of tvN, surpassing Goblin.
