Bring out the popcorn: Here are the Pinoy films dropping on Amazon Prime Video until 2023
If you long for local movie content, you’re due for an Amazon Prime Video binge-watch.
Amazon Prime Video will now cater to Southeast Asian audiences as it introduced films from the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia slated for release in 2022 and 2023.
The first original Filipino content slated to make its way to the streaming video service is as follows:
Big Night!
Streamed on July 31, Jun Lana’s comedy-drama movie Big Night! follows Dharna, a law-abiding beautician, played by Christian Bables, who finds his name on the watchlist of his neighborhood’s alleged drug users. After learning that people on the list are shot to death, Dharna goes into a desperate search for the culprit behind the misdeed.
How To Love Mr. Heartless
Hopeless romantics are in for a treat, as How To Love Mr. Heartless is dropping on Amazon Prime Video on August 15. The film follows Sue Ramirez’s character, Yanyan, fall in love and tries her best to capture the heart of Diego Loyzaga's Blue a.k.a. Mr. Heartless. Will Yanyan's loving and upbeat nature be good enough to turn things around for the cold and distant Blue?
Kun Maupay Man It Panahon
2021 Waray drama film Kun Maupay Man It Panahon (Whether The Weather Is Fine) is slated to stream on Amazon Prime Video on October 10. The movie is set in the aftermath of Typhoon Yolanda where Miguel (Daniel Padilla) resolutely searches far and wide for his mother Norma (Charo Santos-Concio) and significant other Andrea (Rans Rifol) to flee the devastated city.
Directed by Carlo Francisco Manatad, Kun Maupay Man It Panahon had its world premiere at the 74thLocarno Film Festival in Switzerland on Aug. 1 last year.
Comedy Island: Philippines
Amazon Prime Video will also offer laughter with Comedy Island in each country having three unique synopses to it and will be headlined by local talents.
The Philippine version will have celebrities and comedians battle it out on a deserted island for the prize of a lifetime. The comedy show is scheduled to be screened in 2023.
The streaming platform is offering a seven-day free trial to interested subscribers. If seven days isn't enough to satisfy your binge-watching pleasure, you would have to pay $3 or P149 to continue enjoying Amazon Prime Video's services.
