'The Batman' teaser trailer is everything we hoped for
The DC Fandome is blowing up the internet with exclusive DC universe news on films, the comics, video games, and everything in between. The 24-hour event is currently ongoing and you can go to the website right now for the final eight hours of the various panels. You won't want to miss it.
At the end of the first eight-hour stream was a feature and reveal that capped off the first third of the DC Fandome perfectly. Director Matt Reeves himself gave way to the first teaser trailer for The Batman. If there was ever any doubt about the casting of Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, those were largley cast aside because this trailer just rocked every Bat-fan to the core.
Is this the Riddler?
Batman at the crime scene.
Our first glimpse at the new caped crusader is at the scene of a crime, suspected to be one made by The Riddler (Paul Dano). The striking thing about this scene is that Batman is out in the open, surrounded by a group of police officers.
Past versions of the character had him being in the shadows, a myth concocted by the Gotham City Police to scare the public. We may have a situation here where Batman is considered an "honorary member of tactical" as one police officer has said in one of the Knightquest arcs in the comic books.
Commisioner Gordon checks out the (alleged) Riddler's handiwork.
We also get a better look at Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon.
Catwoman out to ruin Batman's night once again.
Zoë Kravitz makes her appearance as Catwoman. And in traditional fashion, she is first shown cracking a safe and, later, tussling with the Bat.
THE Car.
And then there's the Batmobile, a souped-up American muscle car with, basically, a jet engine in the back. Initial images had people doubting whether this vehicle would be worthy of the name, but now seeing it in action just raised its coolness factor to 100.
Guy-liner, anyone?
The final scene in the trailer shows Bruce Wayne being all broody in what we can only assume is the Batcave. The fun thing to note is that when he takes off his cowl, the black paint around his eyes stays. That dark paint is supposed to cover the flesh tone around the eyes, and it's kind of a call back to the Michael Keaton-era Batman Returns where he takes off his cowl and the area around his eyes appears clean.
