Trailer for Pokémon live-action series 'PokéTsume' is here
The trailer for Pokémon's upcoming live-action drama series is here, and it's unlike any of the game's anime series and previous live adaptations.
Titled PokeTsume, which translates to Cram Adventures Into a Pocket, the series follows a fresh graduate named Madoka Agaki and how her life is affected by the classic video game Pokemon Red which, in real life, is the first installment of the Pokémon video game series along with Pokémon Blue.
The trailer released on the show's account on X (formerly Twitter) shows Agaki moving out of her hometown to fulfill her dream of living in Tokyo. However, things turn out to be different from what the fresh grad hoped for when she begins struggling to find her place in a small advertising agency called ADventure.
As Akagi was stressing about an upcoming presentation that could determine her company's fate, she receives a package from her mother containing her old yellow Game Boy Pocket and Pokemon Red cartridge. As she plays the game, Akagi gets her much-needed boost in life, providing her with the power to come face-to-face with her boss and build connections with others.

Akagi is played by idol-turned-actress Nanase Nishino, who used to be a member of the Japanese girl group Nogizaka46. She is joined by other characters who are based on some Pokémon, according to character descriptions on Serebil. Kageaki Hiyama, for one, is inspired by the fire-blazing Charmander, as he feels his flame is about to diminish.
PokeTsume is the first series in the world to be billed as a "Pokémon human drama," wherein the protagonist grows through their experiences playing the game.
It is expected to premiere on Oct. 19 in Japan, while plans for a global release have not yet been announced.
