First look at ‘House of the Dragon’ in HBO Max’s epic lineup through 2022
HBO has previously announced that House of the Dragon, the prequel spin-off of Game of Thrones, will focus on the Targaryens who lived generations before Daenerys. While we know that production is set to begin in 2021, there have only been estimates that the new series would actually hit the airwaves the following year.
In the past weeks, we've also gotten news on the stars who have joined the cast and seen some concept art of the dragons without any confirmation when the show would be ready to launch.
Thanks to an HBO Max clip hyping their epic line-up through 2022, fans get a first clip and a confirmed date for the series.
The promo video posted by HBO Max on Thursday (Dec. 17) gives a first glimpse at the title logo for House of the Dragon at the 49 second mark, with a flash of a fire-breathing dragon confirming the series arrival in 2022. Despite all the production delays brought by the pandemic, it’s good to know that House of the Dragon is still slated for a 2022 premiere.
HBO Max’s promo video also confirmed some of the highly-anticipated projects viewers can look forward to both in theaters and exclusively on the streaming service.
Of course, the biggest release this month is the arrival of Wonder Woman 1984 on December 25, which will be screened in theaters and HBO Max on the exact same day. Warner Brothers recently released the three-minute opening sequence of the film online to hype up the excitement.
Aside from WW1984, there’s a whole slew of HBO and Max original content coming in the new year and beyond.
Viewers can look forward to the Snyder Cut of Justice League in March, a new limited series, Mare of Easttown, starring Kate Winslet, new series The Nevers, a two-part documentary Tiger (based on Tiger Woods), an all-new special episode of Euphoria, the return of Insecure and Succession, the reboot of Gossip Girl, a Nikki Minaj docuseries, and new crime thriller film No Sudden Move starring Jon Hamm.
The promo video also teased the long-awaited Friends reunion special airing as a Max Original.
