'Stranger Things 5' release date hinted by Finn Wolfhard

Heads up, Stranger Things fans: The waiting game for the hit show's season 5 is likely to be long.

Only six months have passed since Netflix released Stranger Things 4 Part 2 last July, but the show's actor Finn Wolfhand already gave a tip-off about the release date of season 5, which is likely to be in 2025.

Wolfhand clued in on the show's potential release date in an episode of GQ's "Actually Me" online series, wherein celebrities are tasked to reply to comments from fans on social media as themselves.

In the episode released last Feb. 2, Wolfhard read a comment from one of his Instagram followers, which touches on his relationship with his co-stars behind the camera.

The comment states, "I can't believe S5 will be the final season. What's your favorite behind-the-scenes Stranger Things memory? I hope you all stay friends."

The 20-year-old replied, reflecting on his desire to remain close to the Hawkins gang and eventually revealing that season 5 will likely premiere when he is 22 or, in other words, by 2025.

"Yeah, I hope we all stay friends too. I don't think there's any way for us not to stay friends. because we're kind of bonded forever, I would say," the actor said. "I can't really believe it's the fifth season either. By the time it comes out, I will be 22, I think."

Wolfhard also expressed how amazed he was that by the time Stranger Things 5 is released, he has already been with the show for ten years.

"And I started working on the show at 12. That is insane," he continued. "And I’ll be able to drink with Gaten [Matarazzo], Caleb [McLaughlin] and Noah [Schnapp], and the whole cast at the premiere of Stranger Things 5. [You] couldn’t have said the same thing at the season 1 premiere, which blows my mind."

Wolfhard plays Mike Wheeler, the leader of the Party, which originally consists of Mike Wheeler, Will Byers, Lucas Sinclair, and Dustin Henderso. He and the rest of the gang are later joined by Eleven (Millie Bobbie Brown), who also becomes Mike's superpowered girlfriend.

Netflix confirmed the renewal of Stranger Things for a fifth season in February of last year. In that same month, the show's creators, the Duffer Brothers, penned an open letter to fans announcing that season 5 will be Stranger Things' last chapter and asked for the fan's continued support for the show.

The letter read, "There are still many more exciting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things; new mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes. But first we hope that you stay with us as we finish this tale of a powerful girl named Eleven and her brave friends, of a broken police chief and a ferocious mom, of a small town called Hawkins, and an alternate dimension known only as the Upside Down. As always, we are grateful for your patience and support."
