Jamie Foxx to return as Electro in Marvel’s Spider-Man 3
Back in 2014, actor Jamie Foxx played the villain Electro opposite Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spiderman.
Fast forward six years, and sources claim that Foxx is in final talks to reprise his role as the blue volt-powered Spider-Man foe once more in the upcoming third “Spider-Man” film of Marvel.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news last week and almost immediately, Spidey fans erupted on Twitter, expressing hope that Foxx's return could mean that a live-action "Spider-Verse" is probably in the works.
Fuelling the rumors about a Spider-Verse is the fact that actor J.K. Simmons reprised his role as J. Jonah Jameson in 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home. Simmons originally played the newspaper boss character in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy featuring Tobey Maguire as the iconic superhero.
The role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man is currently being played by Tom Holland. Alongside him is the teen cast composed of Zendaya (MJ), Marisa Tomei (Aunt May), Jacob Batalon (Ned) and Tony Revolori (Eugene ‘Flash’ Thompson).
The yet to be titled Spider-Man 3 film is being helmed by director Jon Watts and is scheduled to arrive in theaters by Dec. 17, 2021.
