'Young Sheldon' spinoff to be about new parents Georgie and Mandy—reports

It looks like there is reason for viewers to expect more Cooper family tales, as reports said CBS is "nearing a deal with Warner Bros. TV for a direct-to-series order on a Young Sheldon spinoff."

Although both TV companies declined to comment, Variety said in a report that the spinoff series will focus on the characters of Sheldon's older brother, Georgie, together with his wife, Mandy.

The news came a month after the comedy series, which is the spinoff of the hit 2007 American TV sitcom Big Bang Theory, announced in November last year that the show will conclude with the upcoming seventh season with 14 episodes which is set to premiere on Feb. 15. The last episode of the series, which will be a one-hour finale, will air on May 16.

Moreover, the media outlet added that Steve Holland, Steven Molaro and Chuck Lorre, the executive producers of Young Sheldon, would also be helming the forthcoming series.

Likewise, Montana Jordan (Georgie) and Emily Osment (Mandy) are in talks to reprise their roles in the proposed spinoff.

In case you didn't know, Georgie and Mandy get to know each other in a laundromat owned by the former's Meemaw, played by Annie Potts, in the series' Season 5. Georgie was a 17-year-old dropout at the time while Mandy, a former weather girl, was 29. Both characters lied about their ages when they began their relationship, which became a problem when Mandy got pregnant.

The couple then welcomed their child Constance Cooper in the following season. Meanwhile, in the last season, Mandy accepted Georgie's proposal and got engaged.

In regards to their stories, fans of Big Bang Theory then assumed that the pair wouldn't be together for long as Georgie from the original series (played by Jerry O'Connell) said he had two ex-wives—one of whom is probably Mandy.

Meanwhile, if the Georgie-Mandy show does get a green light, Variety said that it would be different from the Big Bang Theory spinoff for HBO Max, which will feature a new cast with past TBBT characters returning as guest stars.

Young Sheldon tells the story of Sheldon's childhood before he became the quirky (and most times, annoying) but lovable physicist in The Big Bang Theory, where Jim Parsons played the adult Sheldon.
