Netflix adds two more gaming titles for iOS and Android

Arcanium: Rise of Akhan is an open-world single-player strategy card game developed by Rogue Games which was first released in December 2020 on Steam.

According to Netflix, the game merges the roguelike and deckbuilding genres in new ways. The goal is to create a team of heroes and embark on a journey to defeat Akhan the Calamity and save the world of Arzu from destruction. If one person on your team succumbs to corruption, the game ends.

Netflix’s second new title is a Where’s Waldo-type puzzle game called Krispee Street developed by Frosty Pop.

Based on a popular webcomic called Krispee, the goal of the puzzle game is to bring the characters and world of Krispee to life by finding hundreds of characters and objects scattered throughout the levels.

As of January 2022, Netflix's gaming lineup now includes a dozen titles, namely: Bowling Ballers, Shooting Hoops, Teeter Up, Asphalt Xtreme, Stranger Things 1984, Stranger Things 3, Card Blast, Dominos Cafe, Wonderputt Forever, Knittens, Arcanium: Rise of Akhan, and Krispee Street.

To play the games on Android devices, subscribers just need to tap on the Games tab in the Netflix app for Android where the games are listed. 

After selecting a title, users are directed to the Google Play Store to install the games. Once the games are downloaded, they are available to play at any time by tapping them within the Netflix app or on the home screen of an Android device. 

For iOS, Netflix is using a similar system where users are directed to Apple’s App Store for downloads.

The game progress is connected to a subscriber’s Netflix accounts. Every profile on a Netflix account can enjoy the games, and users can use multiple devices to play them. There are no ads, no in-app purchases, and it doesn’t cost anything extra to access or play these game titles.

Games are available in multiple languages, though the games default to English, and are only available on adult profiles. Some of the games are available to play offline, so users can still enjoy playing these while in transit or when there's no WiFi.

While the lineup of games is still pretty limited, Netflix has long-term plans to expand its gaming catalog with other additions and gaming genres. 

Last year, Netflix acquired independent game developer Night School Studio, best known for narrative-driven titles like Oxenfree, to further build out its library of Netflix games.
