Netflix is bringing back K-drama Sweet Home for a second and third season, and it's going to be bigger than ever.

"In these new seasons, Sweet Home will take on a larger scale with an expanded storyline and cast," the streaming giant said in a statement.

Song Kang, Hyun Soo, Lee Jin Wook, Lee Si Yong, Gong Min Si, and Park Gyu Young will reprise their season 1 roles in the new episodes, and they will be joined by new faces including Yoo Oh Sung, Oh Jung Se, Kim Moo Yeol, and Jinyoung.

Sweet Home is based on a Naver webtoon of the same name by Kim Carnby and Hwang Young-chan. The series is set in an apocalyptic world where humans turn into savage monsters and wreak havoc thanks to a virus outbreak. A suicidal teen and his neighbors must fight for their lives and hold on to their humanity.

The show was first released in December 2020 and has since won awards at the 2021 Asian Academy creative Awards and the third Asia Contents Awards.

In addition to Sweet Home, Netflix also renewed a slate of Korean shows including Squid Game, All of Us Are Dead, D.P., and Singles Inferno; Japanese series Alice in Borderland and Love is Blind Japan; Indian shows Delhi Crime and Indian Matchmaking.

“We’ve seen how audiences around the world are embracing stories from Asia, and we’re delighted to bring new seasons of these fan-favorite shows to Netflix,” said Minyoung Kim, Netflix’s Vice President of APAC content.

“The diversity of these returning series—from zombie terror to reality dating—demonstrate the unprecedented variety of content being created in Asia-Pacific. While people have always loved genres like Korean romance and Japanese anime, these shows are breaking genre and language barriers to reach broader global audiences.”
