Treat yourself and show some self-love
As the -ber months draw near, preparing ourselves for the holidays is a must. And as this might mean a hectic schedule that includes shopping, prepping your home, etc., it’s always a good idea to pencil in a day solely for yourself. This is where SM Supermarket and Savemore Market's Treat Yourself event can help you out.
Last Aug. 20, SM’s Treat Yourself ambassadors — volleyball star and celebrity host Carmela Tunay, online sensation and celebrity cooking mama Hazel Cheffy, fitness influencer and volleyball star Rachel Anne Daquis, and lifestyle and beauty influencer Angel Dei Peralta — shared their tips on self-love and self-pampering as they launch the biggest promos and discounts on comfort food, personal care, beauty essentials, and more with "Treat Yourself Day" held at the SM Megamall Event Center.
So how do these women treat themselves despite their heavy work load?
Hazel Cheffy treats herself by stocking up her pantry with her fave ingredients, and vacations with friends and families. And nothing makes her happier than a well-stretched budget with her usual buys on promo.
For Angel Dei, it’s all about splurging on hair care products, and daily meditation. Of course, freebies and savings on her beauty brands of choice is her favorite treat.
Rachel Daquis pampers herself with food, which she shares with her teammates at their shared living space. Good food at very good prices are what she treasures the most.
It’s all about slow mornings for Carmela Tunay with her favorite instant coffee brand paired with her favorite snacks.
No matter what your jam is, there's definitely a treat for everybody at Treat Yourself.
Treating yourself without breaking the bank
Though not everyone can enjoy the luxuries that these influencers can, their humble beginnings serve as reminders that money does not grow on trees.
“Very important sa akin ang pera. Rule na sa buhay ko, ayokong umuutang,” Angel Dei shares, adding that if she wants something that’s out of the budget, she just disregards it and focuses on other things she can enjoy.
Being a breadwinner, Carmela Tunay also feels the same. “Parang bata akong tumanda, ako ‘yung bunso pero ako ‘yung breadwinner,” she laments, going back to the days when she had to say no to some whims just to provide for her family. But now, her efforts are paying off: She can now enjoy some girly me-time for herself, and was even able to buy a house for her family – truly an inspiring feat.
As for Hazel Cheffy and Rachel Daquis, health is wealth. Promoting health, wellness, and cooking, the two women agree that valuing our body and mind is a reward in itself.
“Ako, katawan ko ang puhunan ko. Kung hindi ko mamahalin sarili ko, paano ako magkaka-content na maganda?” says Hazel, adding that she avoids burnouts by giving herself the time she needs, be it a vacation or a bit of cooking with her daughter.
The Treat Yourself Day will be at SM City Fairview on Sept. 3 to 4 and SM City San Lazaro on Sept. 17 to 18.
Treat Yourself’s discount offers are also available at all SM Supermarket and Savemore Market stores nationwide.
Online shoppers of shopsm.com, meanwhile, can treat themselves to great promos like free delivery for a minimum P2,000 worth of Treat Yourself items and free SM Bonus Soda Water for a minimum of P1,000 worth of participating items.
With all the fun, excitement, promos and discounts, Treat Yourself is no longer just a movement for all of us who wish to have a restful and meaningful break. It’s everything a day of self-love should be. It's also a proactive way of finding peace with ourselves without getting lost in our everyday responsibilities.
