El Union Coffee to open branch in BGC—here's what we know so far
Any ELYU trip wouldn't be complete without a coffee break at El Union Coffee. If you often find yourself craving its offerings when you're in Manila, here's some good news for you: the La Union favorite is opening a branch in Bonifacio Global City!
Arriving in the metro to provide a "local coffee experience for the big city," Del Union Coffee is set to open its first Manila store along Bonifacio High Street and offer its much-loved menu items—from coffee and horchata to sandwiches, pastries, and beer.
In a chat with PhilSTAR L!fe, Matt San Pedro, El Union Coffee's brand strategist, shared a bit about what customers can expect from its soon-to-launch BGC branch. "For what we can share now, we're bringing our signature Dirty Orxata/Horchata to Manila," he said, adding that its food program is being led by Chef EJ Lagman of Makan at Eliseos, which is also based in LU.
The Del Union Coffee team is still finalizing its new menu for the BGC store. They are looking at a beef sandwich, which features charred tenderloin, smoked aioli, beet, leek & ginger, pickled onions, on focaccia. They're also testing out chicken, tinapa, and an all-vegetable dish that "celebrate northern roots and produce."
San Pedro told L!fe that they are opening "very soon," but the exact date is yet to be announced.
El Union Coffee was established in the surfing capital of the Philippines in 2013. It's best known for its horchata drink and grilled cheese sandwich, among others.
