Last-minute options for your Thanksgiving celebration with the family

No time to cook for Thanksgiving but still want to celebrate it with your loved ones?

Thanksgiving Day is marked every fourth Thursday of November. While it’s a national holiday in the United States, some families also commemorate it in other countries like the Philippines to count their blessings during the past year. Some even honor it the entire month.

The pre-order deadline may have passed for some food spots this year, but there’s still a variety of dine-in options and takeout sets that can help you make it an unforgettable affair with your nearest and dearest. Here are some of them.

First things first: some turkey. There’s a maple glazed one you might not be able to get enough of at the Bay City Café of Citadines Bay City Manila. Available for dine-in, takeout, delivery, and curbside pick-up, it’s best enjoyed with some side dishes like brown butter mashed potatoes, sauteed bacon, roasted pumpkin with feta and cashew nuts, and apple salad with yogurt dressing. Cap it off with some equally delectable apple pie.

At Johnny’s Steak and Grill of B Hotel, you can enjoy some gravlax (cured salmon), pumpkin and carrot soup, seafood pasta, and pumpkin cream cheesecake for P1,500. Just make sure to reserve your table beforehand.

Having a socially distanced celebration this year? Check out Salt and Butter’s solo Thanksgiving feast. For only P950, you can have a filling meal that includes some carved turkey, mac and triple cheese or cheesy mashed potatoes, apple pie crumble, and Biscoff brownies.

If you’re celebrating the occasion the entire month, Carlito’s multi-course menu (P9,500/5-8 pax) could be a great bet. For appetizers, there’s the autumn harvest salad as well as some truffled shiitake mushroom dip with crostini. For the main course, you can savor the goodness of its 12-hour herb-brined and then slow-roasted ultimate thanksgiving turkey with bacon and sausage stuffing, “properly accompanied by a classic cranberry jelly and a savory giblet gravy with hints of thyme and white wine.” Also included in the luxe menu that’s available until Nov. 30 is the scrumptious seafood pot pie.

For fun (and safe) gatherings scheduled later than the 25th, another good option would be Gallery by Chele’s Turkey Feast Thanksgiving Set designed for takeout. Priced at P5,900, the group meal featuring approximately 4-5kg of roasted turkey (6-8 pax) comes with side dishes you can delight in. Just note that they would need around three to four days lead time.

Rossa Valencia has a Thanksgiving Trio Promo that would likewise run until Nov. 30. The set includes three family platters (good for six pax each) for only P3,700. Among its best-selling offerings are the truffle mushroom spaghettini with roasted garlic toast, prawn thermidor with garlic mashed potatoes, and the ribeye steak with green peppercorn sauce.
