Chocolate soda, anyone? Here’s what we know so far about Dr Pepper’s new offering

Dreaming of something fuzzy and chocolatey? 

That can be found in Dr Pepper’s latest offering: the FANtastic Chocolate, which lets you enjoy chocolate in the form of bubbly soda. It sounds pretty strange, without a doubt. But that’s just part of the thrill in the ever-exciting food and beverage scene. 

How does it taste? According to a food writer, who was among the first to try the new flavor, it might surprise you with its “extremely thick and syrupy texture, even for a non-‘diet’ soft drink.” Giving off an aroma that resembles a Tootsie Pop in cherry or raspberry, each sip of the FANtastic Chocolate could only leave you wanting more. “It’s one of those cases where I thought every sip would be my last, but then continued to go back and taste it again, only to conclude that the sweetness really isn’t as overpowering as I would have feared.”

Unfortunately, the enticing drink isn’t accessible as it should be. You would have to buy Dr Pepper products, create an account on its official website, and join the “Pepper Perks” rewards program. “Once fans earn a qualifying amount of points, they can redeem their purchase to receive the exclusive new flavor as long as it is available,” the brand explained in a press release.
