SM Mall of Asia is opening its ice skating rink starting on Jan. 23

SM Mall of Asia is opening its ice skating rink for fully vaccinated patrons starting on Jan. 23.

SM Skating temporarily closed its doors at the start of the pandemic, but they're now starting to welcome mall-goers to their 1,800-square-meter rink in Pasay City.

Only fully vaccinated individuals 12-years-old and above are allowed on the ice.

Starting on Jan. 23, the MOA ice skating rink will be open from 12:00 pm to 4:30 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays; and 12:00 pm to 6:45 pm on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

As opposed to its free-for-all influx pre-pandemic, the rink will now only accommodate a certain number of people at a given two-hour time slot. A "one-way flow of traffic" will also be implemented, meaning skaters can only skate in one direction circling the vicinity.

A 2-hour pass will cost you P330, while it costs P499 to skate for the entire afternoon, or until the rink closes.

For those opting to stay in the rink for entire time period, they will have to vacate the rink every two hours to make way for clearing and sanitization.

The rink's practice polar bear for beginners will also be available for rent at P100 an hour.

Other guidelines include the wearing of face masks and physical distancing. SM also ensures the proper sanitation of materials such as skate shoes, gear, and helmets.

Patrons are also advised to wear and bring their own hand gloves, pants/leg warmers, and sports socks.

Meanwhile, SM Mall of Asia's ice skating rink has long been known for its high capacity, as the ice hockey competition of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games was held in the same rink almost three years ago.

There's no word yet if other SM Skating venues will follow suit.
