Philippines is 7th fastest-growing remote work hub worldwide—list
The Philippines is among the top fastest-growing remote work hubs in the world, according to a work and travel platform.
The World Economic Forum (WEF), in an Instagram Reel on Oct. 30, showed Manila, Philippines placing 7th in the ranking based on Nomad List, a platform where over 10,000 members log their trips to meet with other people and chat every day for information and socialization.
From 2018 to 2022, the Philippines posted +78% growth in check-ins. This year, the country has recorded a +60% growth in the last 10 months.
Tokyo in Japan emerged at the top of the list. Here's the complete ranking, as shared by the WEF:
- 10th – Ljubljana, Slovenia
- 9th – Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
- 8th – Hanoi, Vietnam
- 7th – Manila, Philippines
- 6th – Montevideo, Uruguay
- 5th – Penang, Malaysia
- 4th – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
- 3rd – Seoul, South Korea
- 2nd – Danang, Vietnam
- 1st – Tokyo, Japan
The destinations that made the cut are ranked by "growth rates of check-ins made to places by tens of thousands of Nomad List members using live data analyzing 299,498 check-ins. The primary rank is the most recent growth in check-ins."
Nomad List collects millions of data points from thousands of cities, analyzing the cost of living, temperature, and safety, among others.
