Marcos greets First Lady Liza on her birthday: 'You deserve to slow down, be celebrated'

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos took to social media to wish his wife, First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos, a happy birthday on Aug. 21, Wednesday.

"To my beautiful wife Liza Marcos, on this day you deserve to slow down and be celebrated by those who hold you dearest," Marcos said in a Facebook post as he shared a photo collage of the Marcos family. Liza just turned 65.

The President added that he and their three children—Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos, Simon, and Vincent—"are most grateful" for her.

"Happy Birthday, my First Lady!" Marcos said.

In a Valentine's Day vlog earlier this year, Marcos said he makes it a point to bond with Liza despite their busy schedules.

"Well, it's really hard to balance as work takes up so much of our time. Well, it's just not me, Liza also has a lot of things to do," he said. "So, we try to find five minutes here, 20 minutes there, we eat together."

“Whatever the schedule allows, we take full advantage of it,” he added.

Liza, for her part, said Marcos cooks for them at home. They also try to have a “date night” on Wednesdays.

The couple celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary last April. (with reports from Helen Flores)
