After calling COVID-19 a scam, US singer Ted Nugent tests positive for COVID-19
An American rock star who once dismissed COVID-19 has tested positive for the coronavirus.
In a Facebook Live video posted on Monday, April 19, singer Ted Nugent revealed that he has contracted the virus, months after he said that it was “not a real pandemic” and that the COVID-19 vaccine is “not a real vaccine.”
“I thought I was dying. I literally could hardly crawl out of bed the last few days,” Nugent said in his live video. He added, “So I was officially tested positive for COVID-19 today.”
"I got a stuffed up head, body aches, oh my god what a pain in the a--. I literally can hardly crawl out of bed, the last few days but I did. I crawled,” Nugent also said.
Nugent used racist language and slurs in his Facebook Live video to describe COVID-19. Despite testing positive, the singer said he still won’t get the COVID-19 vaccine because he erroneously claims that “nobody knows what’s in it.”
More than 570,000 people in the US have died because of the coronavirus as of Tuesday, April 20.
In December 2020, Nugent dismissed the COVID-19 pandemic, calling it a “scamming pandemic. “It's not a real pandemic, and that's not a real vaccine,” he said.
In an April 2021 Facebook Live video, days before he tested positive for the coronavirus, he said: "Why weren't we shut down for COVID-1 through -18?" COVID-19 is an abbreviation of its original name coronavirus disease 2019.
