Miss Latvia Kate Alexeeva withdraws from Miss Universe 2022 after testing positive for COVID-19
Nine days before the Miss Universe 2022 coronation night, Latvia's candidate Kate Alexeeva withdrew from the pageant due to COVID-19 complications.
On Jan. 5, the beauty queen took to Instagram to announce that she is revoking her participation in this year’s competition.

Heartbroken, the beauty queen expressed her gratitude for her supporters. “Wish you all a truly healthy and happy New Year and to everyone for support, I appreciate it immensely,” she said.
Miss Universe 2022 will be held at New Orleans Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA on Saturday, January 14 (US time), with 85 contenders vying for the crown. This will be live-streamed for free in the Philippines via A2Z, Kapamilya Channel, Metro Channel, and iWantTFC.
