Trigger warning: This article contains mentions of suicide.

A grandmother passed away after a man jumped off a freeway and landed on her car.

According to ABC News affiliate ABC7, the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to reports of an individual threatening to commit suicide by jumping from an overpass in Sylmar in August. He later pushed through with his plan and ended up on the windshield of the woman's car while the latter was in the passenger seat next to her husband.

The woman sustained injuries and remained in the hospital's intensive care unit for weeks. Her family said she passed away last week.

"What if she stopped to get gas? What if she stopped to get water? This probably wouldn't have happened," her son told the media outlet.

"It could've just been two seconds off, two inches away, my mom would've been fine," her daughter also said.

The woman is survived by her husband as well as their three children and seven grandkids.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by her family to cover their loved one's funeral expenses.

"It's incredibly unfair that her life was taken because someone else didn't want theirs. My mom was a loving and caring person, and our family is heartbroken and struggling to cope with this unimaginable loss," her son wrote on the page. "We’ve been by her side throughout this ordeal, and now we're asking for any support to help us give her the farewell she deserves."
