Billionaire tech CEO's child found alive inside van after going missing for a week
The 16-year-old child of Stewart Butterfield, the billionaire co-founder of communications platform Slack, has been found alive a week after being reported missing.
The San Francisco police tweeted on Monday, April 29 that Mint "has been safely located and reunited with family." They also thanked everyone who helped with the search.
According to a report by the San Francisco Standard, Mint's family expressed their gratitude to those "who called in tips and made this recovery possible" in an email sent to the media.
"We especially want to thank the seasoned law enforcement officers who understand the very real threat of predators who use the allure of drugs to groom teenagers," they said.
A public information officer told the media outlet that Mint was found inside a white van on April 25 with a 26-year-old man identified as Christopher "Kio" Dizefalo. He's Mint's "adult friend," according to police. He has been arrested for "multiple criminal violations" and has been taken into custody at Marin County Jail. His bail was set at $50,000 (P2.8 million).
NBC News reported that Mint is considered a runaway by authorities. The teen was also described as a "voluntary missing person" in a press release.
She was seen wearing a black sweatshirt, flannel pajama pants, and black boots in the coastal community of Bolinas on April 21, and was reported missing on April 22.
Steward and Mint are reportedly estranged.
