Father forces son to play mobile games for 17 hours straight as punishment
An 11-year-old boy in China was punished by his father with 17 consecutive hours of mobile gaming after the latter caught the child playing past his bedtime.
The father, surnmaed Huang, saw his son secretly playing mobile games on his bed at 1:30 a.m. on March 8.
Instead of taking the phone from his son, Huang sent him a message, telling him that he can play until the next the day provided that he will not sleep.
The father chronicled the incident in a video he uploaded on TikTok's Chinese counterpart, Douyin, which was later shared by local media. In the caption of his post, Huang said that his goal was to make his son play for 24 hours.
At around 7:30 a.m., Huang noticed that his kid was still up and alert and informed his son's teacher that he won't be going to class that day.
By 1:30 p.m., his son fell asleep after staying glued to his mobile game for 12 hours straight Huang then woke his son up and ordered him to continue playing.
It was at 6:30 p.m., after playing a total of 17 hours, that his son asked for forgiveness and penned a letter, promising that he would never play mobile games before bedtime moving forward.
As the punishment drew backlash from local netizens, Huang said in another post that he imposed it on his son, considering that he is physically fit. He said that the kid is also obedient and has good grades.
Huang also advised other parents not to use the same disciplining method on their children.
