LOOK: Ely Buendia visits presidential candidate Leni Robredo in her office
Months after joking about the possibility of an Eraserheads reunion if Vice President Leni Robredo runs for the highest position of the land in the upcoming elections, Ely Buendia visited the presidential aspirant in her office.
Robredo shared some snaps of them on Facebook, with the caption: “Ely Buendia in the house!! Grabe, nabulabog ang opisina,” she said, adding that she also received a vinyl copy of the Eraserheads 25th Anniversary Limited Edition from the OPM band’s former frontman.
“Thank you, Ely. Nakita mo kung gaano kadami fans mo sa office namin,” she added.
Back in September, Buendia made the rounds online when he brought up a chance for an Eraserheads reunion on Twitter. When asked about it, the ex-vocalist answered: “’Pag tumakbo si Leni.”
As soon as Robredo filed her certificate of candidacy for president on Oct. 7, Eheads fans were quick to follow up on his previous tweet. Buendia, however, explained that it was a “half-serious joke.”
“That answer was far from a political post. I do respect and admire Leni. If I were to vote, she’s my top candidate right now. That tweet was a half-serious joke maybe, but people made it into a big deal,” he said in a press conference.
The singer also addressed the matter in a Twitter post with the hashtag #LetLeniLead.
I may joke about frivolous things like an old band getting back together, but I’m dead serious about our people’s future. #LetLeniLead
