Dolly De Leon joins cast of action comedy 'Grand Death Lotto' starring John Cena, Simu Liu, Awkwafina
Filipino actress Dolly De Leon will join the supporting cast of upcoming action comedy film Grand Death Lotto starring John Cena, Simu Liu, and Awkwafina.
Deadline also reported that Ayden Mayeri (Somebody I Used to Know), Sean William Scott (Welcome to Flatch), and Donald Elise Watkins (Project Artemis) are joining the cast.
The Amazon Original movie revolves around a grand lotto that's been set up in an economically challenged California "in a very near future."
The catch is that one must kill the winner before sundown in order to legally claim the prize.
New Los Angeles transplant Katie (Awkwafina) accidentally finds herself with the winning ticket and must join forces with amateur jackpot protector Noel (Cena) to make it to sundown. They, however, have to deal with Noel's protection rival Louis (Liu), who also wants to get her for his rich protection commission.
The supporting cast members' roles have yet to be announced.
Grand Death Lotto will be directed by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, Ghostbusters, Bad Teacher). It will be streamed on Prime Video across over 240 countries.
Cena is a professional wrestler-turned-actor with roles in The Suicide Squad, The Marine, and F9 and Fast X of the Fast and Furious franchise.
Liu starred in Marvel Cinematic Universe's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings as the titular superhero, with Awkwafina portraying his best friend working as a hotel valet.
De Leon rose to global fame for her role in class satire Triangle of Sadness. She portrayed Abigail, a toilet cleaner turned captain of the ship for the uberwealthy.
Her breakout performance earned her over 15 international nods, including the 80th Golden Globe Awards, 48th Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards, and The Satellite Awards 2022
She recently won best supporting actress at the Guldbagge Awards in Sweden.
