DNS P2P Bus announces temporary suspension of operations
The DNS point-to-point (P2P) bus, which travels from UP Town Center in Katipunan to Makati CBD (Central Business District), announced that it's temporarily suspending its operations starting Friday, Nov. 22.
"It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the temporary suspension of our DNS P2P Bus operations starting November 22, 2024," DNS said in a statement posted on Facebook on the night of Nov. 21.
It noted that its P2P route "has always been more than just a business to us—it was a service of heart."
"Despite being a missionary route, sustained by subsidies from our other business units, we kept running it because we saw the importance it brought to the small market communities in Katipunan, Quezon City, and Makati CBD," it said.
"We have loved being part of your daily journeys, whether it was getting you to work, school, or home. Seeing familiar faces board our buses and hearing your stories has always made the challenge worthwhile.
But even if it wanted to continue, DNS said it "has become too hard for us to keep this route going, and with a heavy heart, we have to take a break for now.”
Still, the operator noted that it's "not goodbye."
"We hope to see you again soon," it added. "We are very sorry for this change and for any trouble it causes you. Thank you for your understanding, and we hope to serve you again in the future."
DNS P2P Bus didn't specify the reason for temporarily suspending operations.
Some commuters lamented the news in the comments section of its post.
"OMG! You made working in Makati convenient for someone who lived in QC," one user said.
"Nung [nasa Pilipinas] pa ako, this is the only public transpo I really felt safe to ride on. Super professional 'yung staff and malinis parati 'yung bus," another user said.
Some social media users, meanwhile, criticized the last-minute announcement.
"While I respect the decision and all signs point that this will happen, as a regular customer, I can say that this decision of putting out the announcement the night before the actual service stoppage is done in bad taste," one user said. "You could have made the announcement a few days before so the regular customers will be able to make proper arrangements for their commute."
"Hanggang sa huling pagkakataon walang proper notice. Kagabi lang nag-announce suspended na byahe ngayon," another user said.
The route was launched in December 2017.
