Where to donate: How you can help those affected by Typhoon Carina

The onslaught of Typhoon Carina has intensified the already heavy monsoon rains, causing widespread flooding and leaving countless families displaced and in need of assistance.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration has issued a red rainfall warning for Metro Manila and parts of Luzon on Wednesday morning, indicating torrential downpours that could trigger landslides.

As communities rally together to provide relief, a growing number of donation drives have emerged to support those affected.

If you are looking for ways to support them, here is a list of organizations accepting donations.

PhilSTAR Media Group’s Operation Damayan

Philstar Media Group, through Operation Damayan, is launching a fund drive for Typhoon Carina victims.

Donations may be deposited to Philstar Daily Inc./ Operation Damayan's Metrobank Savings account number 151-7-15152422-9. Email the deposit slip to [email protected].

Community Pantry

Patricia Non, the founder of Community Pantry PH, is calling for donations.

"Naka-standby po kami sa Community Pantry PH para sa mga iba't-ibang communities na affected. Naghahanda din po kami na mag kitchen para mag hatid ng hot meals sa evacuation centers," she wrote.

She encouraged the public to donate any amount, no matter how small, as it would enable them to extend their aid to more areas.

Those who wish to send food to evacuation centers, Non also listed the basic ingredients and quantity for sopas, champorado, miswa soup, lomi, lugaw, and monggo soup.

"Adjust adjust na lang po at feel free na mag-add ng gulay para mas healthy," she added.

Kadamay

Urban poor organization Kadamay is calling for donations 

"Nananawagan ang Kadamay sa lahat ng kayang magpaabot ng tulong pinansyal o materyal bilang tugon sa mga maralita na kasalukuyang kumakaharap sa matinding krisis dulot ng Bagyong Carina gaya ng matataas na baha, kawalan ng pagkain, tubig, at kuryente," they wrote.

Those who wish to donate may do so via cash, GCash or BPI bank transfer. In-kind donations may also be dropped off at 12-A Kasiyahan Street, Don Antonio Heights, Brgy. Holy Spirit, Quezon City.

Kadamay has opened its communication lines to assist those affected by the typhoon. Individuals can send messages to their social media accounts, including their location, number of people affected, current situation, and supporting photos or videos.

UP Manila

The students of UP Manila and other communities affected need donations.

According to the university, those who are willing to extend support may send their donations to the following accounts of Tulong Kabataan - UP Manila: Landbank: 0597210388, John Venedict Cabrera GCash: 09164150726, Kyla Sofia Benedicto PayMaya: 09164150726, Kyla Sofia Benedicto.

In-kind donations are also accepted by Tulong Kabataan UPM at the UP Manila University Student Council Office located at the 4F Joaquin Gonzales Building, Padre Faura St., Ermita, Manila.

Alliance of Concerned Teachers Philippines

Alliance of Concerned Teachers Philippines, the largest non-traditional teachers' organization in the country, is calling for cash and in-kind donations.

They are accepting drinking water, ready-to-eat or canned goods and food packs, clothes, blankets and beddings, medicine kits, toiletries, and other immediate needs.

Sangguniang Kabataan ng Barangay UP Campus

The Sangguniang Kabataan ng Barangay UP Campus said that as of 10 a.m., there are 17 families and 67 individuals in the evacuation center in Pook Dagohoy Court.

Lingap Gabriela

"Lingap Gabriela is opening channels for solidarity pledges for communities affected by Typhoon Carina," it said in a Facebook post.

Donations may be sent to their Chinabank or GCash accounts. For in-kind donations such as rice, canned goods, vitamins, medicine, and first aid equipment, they may be dropped off at 35 Sct. Delgado St., Brgy. Laging Handa, QC.

UP Diliman University Student Council

IskoOps is a relief drive for families and communities that are affected by Typhoon Carina, organized by the UP Diliman University Student Council.

They are asking for in-kind donations such as canned food, drinking water, rice, instant noodles, toiletries, diapers, blankets, and sando plastic bags for packing.

Monetary donations may also be sent through GCash and BDO.

Additionally, the USC is calling for volunteers to help in consolidating, repacking, and delivering donations. The Philippines Red Cross Rizal Chapter is calling for donations and is looking for volunteers.

"Dear Friends and Supporters, We are reaching out to you in an urgent call for help. Typhoon Carina has caused widespread devastation, leaving many families in dire need of assistance. The impact has been severe, with numerous homes destroyed, infrastructure damaged, and essential services disrupted. In this critical time, your support can make a significant difference," they wrote.

Angat Buhay

Angat Buhay is partnering with Tanging Yaman Foundation for donations.

"All donations for Angat Buhay may be directed to TYFI and will be used to support ongoing relief efforts," former Vice President Atty. Leni Robredo wrote on Facebook.

The non-government organization is accepting in-kind donations and cash donations. Those who wish to give in-kind can contact Lowie at 09193986845 before dropping by Richie Fernando SJ Covered Court, Wellness Drive at Ateneo De Manila University in Quezon City.

"Your contributions will help provide essential supplies, medical assistance, and other forms of aid to those affected by Super Typhoon Carina," she added.
