'Hamilton' star Lin-Manuel Miranda speaks Filipino, fans speculate about upcoming Manila show
Speculations are rife that popular Broadway musical Hamilton is coming to Manila after its star and creator Lin-Manuel Miranda showed off his Tagalog speaking skills in a video.
"Kumusta, Philippines? What's up, dude, pare?" Miranda said in a March 27 clip uploaded by GMG Productions.
Many fans went gaga over the comments section, writing comments in all caps and putting lots of exclamation points as they speculated about an upcoming Manila show.
"Hamilton pleaseee!!! Naka reserve na atay ko para mapanuod to ng live!!!" one user said.
"Is it Hamilton, West Side Story or In the Heights," another user said.
Another user jokingly told the actor, "Hoy, Lin-Manuel! Umayos ka!"
PhilSTAR L!fe reached out to GMG Productions for more information, but has yet to receive a response.
Premiering in 2015, Hamilton tells the story of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton through song and rap. Miranda is also behind the 2021 musical drama In The Heights, as well as soundtracks for animated films Moana, Encanto, and Vivo.
