Residents of Brgy. Bonbon Cebu City are seeking financial assistance after rescuing a dog with a knife buried in his head.
The dog dubbed "Bonbon" by the citizens first went viral on social media after he was found in the stabbed state by a netizen named Ade Ibona.
In a post shared on Nov. 6, Ibona shared that Bonbon had been shivering from "trauma" as early as Nov. 5. She also sought out help from others to find and rescue the poor animal.
In the photos, Bonbon can be seen with the knife visibly sticking from his head. Ibona also shared that blood was gushing from his mouth and the stab head wound itself.
The post soon spread online, with the citizens nearby searching for the dog.
A group comprised of concerned citizens such as father and son Jerson and Jezzrel Tabal, Therese Marie Vidal, and others soon gathered by foot and motorcycle along with other rescue dogs. They regularly shared photo updates via social media, with many following the search and wishing the best for Bonbon.
Finally, after searching for over two days, they found Bonbon alive and well on Nov. 9. Shortly after, Jerson and Jezzrel Tabal brought the dog to Yandug Animal Care clinic for treatment.
Despite finding him in a shocking state four days after being stabbed, Vidal shared on the same day that is currently resting in the clinic.
"He will be staying at the clinic for a few more days until fully recovered," Vidal shared.
"I will be posting updates from time to time since Bonbon is still under observation. In order for him to rest well while recuperating, visitors are not yet allowed," she added.
In the photos shared by Cebu-based news outlet The Freeman, the dog can be seen looking happy with his head wound stitched and the rusty knife finally removed.
The rescuers are still seeking financial assistance for Bonbon's health maintenance. You may send donations via GCash to 0995 564 9936 (Cris Troy C.)
