Woman goes to trial after allegedly killing lookalike to fake own death
A woman went to trial following accusations that she killed a lookalike in a bid to fake her own death.
BBC reported that Sharaban K, 24, and a man named Sheqir K, 25, had sought out women on Instagram who looked like her and tried to meet these women through various promises.
She promised her victim, a 23-year-old from Algeria named Khadidja O, a free treatment at a beauty salon in August 2022.
Khadidia O was picked up in Eppingen town and allegedly driven by Sharaban K and Sheqir K toward Ingolstadt city.
The victim was stabbed 56 times and hit over the head before her body was abandoned in a forest while in Sharaban K’s car.
Authorities found Khadidia O’s body and initially thought she was Sharaban K, but the latter and Sheqir K were arrested the next day after being spotted at a pizza parlor.
Sharaban K reportedly had a failed marriage, which was believed to be the reason for her attempt to fake her own death.
The duo was also accused of hiring a hitman to kill her brother-in-law.
While in custody, Sheqir K allegedly tried to persuade an inmate to kill witnesses in the case dubbed “doppelganger murder.”
The trial proceedings were significantly delayed, BBC reported, as the lawyers of the accused requested a suspension. They claimed that prosecutors had only recently submitted additional documents, which needed more time for examination as there wouldn’t be a “fair” trial.
BBC reported that the court is expected to rule on whether to delay the trial next week.
