Filipino Pokémon fans can be at their very best like no one ever was as this year's PokeCon Philippines has been announced.

Fans of the beloved media franchise—which includes video games, anime, and trading cards—are about to catch 'em all in three days, from Sept. 6 to 8 at Ayala Malls Market! Market! in Taguig.

PokeCon 2024 is bigger and better than last year's event, which was held for two days.

Here's what to expect during the three-day celebration.

Pre-events

Ahead of the three-day celebration, PokeCon will have several pre-events.

From Aug. 31 to Sept. 1, esports platform Aces and Draco Entertainment will host the Pokemon Unite Philippines Community Masters 8 online tournament.

In the free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena game, two teams with five members try to outscore each other in 10 minutes through goals. It's available on Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS.

On Aug. 31, Hobby Stadium in Quezon City is hosting the PokeCon Cup for the Video Game Championship on the latest mainline games Scarlet and Violet.

The cup will determine the players who can qualify for the semifinals during the PokeCon itself on Sept. 7.

Local Pokémon content creators Mandy Nyu Nyu and Shiro will also host episodes of the Blasting Off Together and Hyper Voice Podcast ahead of the main event.

Art exhibits

PokeCon 2024 will also serve as an avenue for artists to showcase their works which attendees may purchase.

Items include fan art, posters, stickers, clothing, and other merchandise depicting everybody's favorite creatures.

PokeCon Talks

The event is also a platform for upholding the local Pokemon community and cultivating close-knit bonds with other franchises in the country through conversations.

Gaming content creators GeekTalk PH will host one session, while Filipinos who joined the 2024 Pokemon World Championships in Hawaii, which ended last Aug. 18, will share their stories, the challenges they faced along the way, and their experiences in joining different tournaments.

Cosplay competition

Fans may join the cosplay competition, dressing up as their favorite trainer or creature from the franchise.

Their fur babies may also join in on the fun and show just how adorable they are.

Tournaments

Pokemon has always revolved around competitiveness, and trainers have the chance to face others during the event. There will be tournaments for the VGC, Trading Card Game, and Pokemon Go (Great Battle League and Catchathon).

A trivia competition is also available, in battle royal and triple tag team formats.

Trophies and cash prizes await the winners.

Doodle wall

Attendees are free to express themselves through words or drawings on the doodle wall.

They may also bring their plushies for a chance to get awarded ribbons like in the video games.
