Miss Supranational Organization is banning Russia from sending a representative to their beauty pageant.

On Feb. 28, Miss Supranational Organization President and CEO Gerhard Parzutka Von Lipinski, through the organization's social media pages, made an announcement saying they are choosing "to stand up for freedom and unity."

"Ukraine has been a very special part of the Supra Family since the beginning of our competition in 2009 when Oksana Moria won the very first title in Poland," she stated.

"The European Union, where many countries joined together to cooperate with one another, is an excellent example of supranationalism. Today, we are joining the EU, countries around the world, sports federations, cultural events and the people around the world who choose to stand up for freedom and unity. We will not accept a contestant from Russia as we cannot condone the actions of the Kremlin."

Meanwhile, the organization is also calling for support for the people of Ukraine.

"Thousands of people have already arrived in Poland from Ukraine. Thousands more are still waiting. They need our help and support. If you can, please support these people in their time of need," they wrote, sharing links of donation drives.

Last year's Miss Supranational final competition was held at Strzelecki Park Ampitheater in Nowy Sącz, Małopolska, Poland on Aug. 21, 2021.

Chanique Rabe of Namibia was crowned at the end of the event.
