Man found guilty of killing teens who played doorbell prank at his home
A man in California has been found guilty of murdering teens who played the doorbell prank at his residence.
According to a report by NBC Los Angeles, the pranksters rang the man’s doorbell and rushed to their car before Anurag Chandra could open the door. The latter made sure to follow them afterward and rammed their vehicle when he was able to catch up, leaving three dead and three others injured from the incident.
Another media outlet reported that Chandra recalled having 12 bottles of beer and being “extremely, extremely mad” before he went after the teens. He said it made him think of the safety of his family then.
The jury charged him with three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted murder for what he did.
“The murder of these young men was a horrendous and senseless tragedy for our community. This is an important step towards justice,” said Riverside County District Attorney Mike Hestrin.
NBC News reported that Chandra “faces life without the possibility of parole when he’s sentenced July 14."
